Remedy trial and the use of API

Currently, I can only run bmc's Remedy demo online. Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm looking at a web-app that's fetching dummy data from a DB. (link: url)

Is there a way I can build on this and code a java program that fetches information (using the java API)? How?
