Embed c++ vtk windows into java application

I'm new to VTK. Currently Im thinking of using C++ vtk as a image viewer in a java application. Due to performance issue i don wan to use Java vtk.

I believe JNI is my best choice of implementation. Is it possible and how do i start ?
